For me it kind of happened by accident. I was looking around for interesting topics to do a PhD in and I found a project in solar cells – I started working on energy materials during my PhD, I then moved out of the area for a while but got sucked back in in the last 5 years as I find it very interested and potentially useful to develop new photovoltaic materials.
