      The best estimate of when the earth was formed, based primarily on radioisotope measurements (radiometric dating) of the oldest known rocks as well as meteorites that have struck the earth, is around 4.6 billion years ago.

      If you mean the world as in the whole universe, scientists think that all kicked off about 14 billion years ago!
