      The great British scientist Michael Faraday initiated the first Christmas Lecture series in 1825. He came from humble beginnings as was keen on the idea that the lectures present scientific topics to a general public audience, including children, in an informative and entertaining way.

      Since the theme of my lectures was ‘Energy’ I made reference to Faraday who made important discoveries in electricity and electrochemistry (and gave lectures on the chemistry of the candle).
